About RatingWater
Your local water report, without the scavenger hunt.
RatingWater translates Consumer Confidence Reports and other local public data into plain answers, visible sources and practical next steps.
Why it exists
Utility reports are detailed, but the useful parts can be scattered across tables, footnotes and separate webpages. We organize the latest available information around the questions households ask: where water comes from, how it is treated, what the utility found and what system-wide data cannot tell you about one faucet.
Where we are starting
Our first local report covers Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. More towns can be added only after their current official sources are checked; we do not publish empty location pages or copied summaries.
How the rating stays honest
Every Report Clarity Score uses the same public 100-point rubric and shows its breakdown. The score rates how clear and useful the public information is—not whether the water is safe and not what comes from a particular kitchen faucet. Utility results and their source links appear separately. See how the score works.
How Purity Water appears here
Purity Water is included as a local refill option in Berkeley Heights. Its service details are attributed to Purity’s website and kept separate from the public tap-water findings used in the Report Clarity Score. RatingWater has not tested Purity’s water or Berkeley Heights tap water.
Editorial standards and corrections
RatingWater is maintained through its own editorial process. We start with current primary sources— utility reports, public notices and government guidance—identify the water system and date every local review. Provider facts are attributed to the provider instead of presented as independent test results.
We recheck a report when a new annual utility report is published or when a source changes materially. If you spot an error, keep the page URL, the statement in question and a supporting primary source together. A public corrections channel will be added before RatingWater expands beyond its first local report. Documented corrections are reviewed against the original record before a page is updated.
