Location suggestions without precise tracking.

RatingWater can suggest a nearby town to make local reports easier to find. The suggestion is approximate, optional and never sends you to another page without a click.

Approximate town suggestions

Our hosting provider may infer a city, state and country from a visitor’s internet connection. RatingWater checks that information only against the short list of towns with published local coverage. The report finder receives only a matched town suggestion or no match. It does not receive the visitor’s raw IP address, ZIP code, coordinates or an unmatched location.

The finder does not request browser GPS access. An approximate match can be wrong, so it remains a suggestion and can always be replaced with a manual town choice.

Your manual town preference

If you submit a town choice, RatingWater stores that choice in your browser so it can be reused on that device. This browser storage can be removed by clearing site data. Choosing a town does not automatically subscribe you to anything or share precise device location.

Analytics

RatingWater uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate site use and measure actions such as opening a report or following a provider link. When the town finder is submitted, the selected town and the finder’s page placement may be included in an analytics event. Google may process browser, device and approximate-location information under its own policies.
